“Breathing well through the 21st century is one of the tall challenges facing humanity. One factor in the breathing challenge is dehydration or our upper airways. My work explores the biophysics of upper airway dehydration and non-drug means of rehydrating our airways for prophylactic and therapeutic benefit. Hydrated upper airways also perceive flavor more readily than dehydrated upper airways — breathing better translates into eating better. My work also explores how hydration in our airways, like hydration in our food, benefits eating. Breathing and eating better invites behavior change, which has made me a student of the aesthetics of change, often in collaboration with artists, designers and chefs.”
